Over the decades, Nintendo have certainly retained a strong position in the world of video gaming. Even with the presence of the other equally formidable opponents such as Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo have remained a force to be reckoned with.
Since most people have spent a great number of years creating wonderful childhood memories clicking away on the Nintendo joystick, the brand are readily recognized by a lot of people. However, with the introduction of Sony’s Playstation 2 and Microsoft’s Xbox some skepticism was raised as to whether Nintendo would be able to keep up with the intense competition.
During the early part of 2006, Nintendo announced that they were currently in the development process of a newest addition to their roster of impressive gaming product lines. The project was initially codenamed Revolution, since the company claim that the product would revolutionize the world’s video gaming experience.
The name was later amended to Nintendo Wii, which is pronounced as ‘we’. Needless to say, after a brief silence the company certainly created quite a stir with the imminent availability of Nintendo Wii. Various speculations and rumors abounded as the release date loomed near. There was definitely a palpable air of expectancy and excitement since a lot of people were waiting with bated breath as to how would Nintendo reestablish their superiority in the industry with the help of the availability of Nintendo Wii.
The hullabaloo was further agitated when Sony later announced that they had scheduled the release of the Playstation 3 days after the product launching of the Nintendo Wii. The excitement certainly reached fever pitch heights and was all too much to contain with thousand of people eager to get their hands on the latest gadgets.
While the rest of the world was in a frenzy, the top executives of both companies were sitting at the edges of their seats, so to speak. The success and failure of the product would make a huge impact to their product. Some were in high hopes that the availability of Nintendo Wii would mark the strong presence of the company.
When the release date finally came on November 19, 2006, there was an astounding demand of the product much more that was initially anticipated. Once again, the availability of Nintendo Wii and all other Nintendo products in the past have certainly doused all rumors that the brand is no longer in the running in the video gaming industry. The company certainly delivered and brought home the fact that it still reigns supreme when it comes to providing ultimate family entertainment.
